What does custom jewelry mean?
Custom jewelry, sometimes referred to as commissions, means a specific one of a kind piece of jewelry that has been made just for you, using your design inspiration.
What is the process of having custom jewelry made?
It all starts with you getting in contact with us to discuss your ideas. Once we have agreed on what we can create for you, and your deposit has been paid, we will get started on your jewelry. A timeline will be provided, and updates will be sent along the way. Once we begin your custom jewelry we cannot alter the design. Please make sure you tell us all of the special details you are hoping to include before we begin creating your piece of jewelry.

Does Feeding On Frost create Bridesmaid & Groomsmen Gifts?
Every piece of custom jewelry is different in terms of design, size, metal, and materials used. If you have a deadline please let us know as soon as possible.
Most often, the base timeframe starts at about 3 weeks once a deposit has been made. If your piece of custom jewelry includes a lot of details, stone settings, or is multiple pieces of jewelry, this will more than likely take longer to complete.
Keep in mind if you need a custom piece of jewelry completed for a holiday like Christmas, Mother’s Day, or Valentine’s Day, we may need a longer timeframe to complete this.
If we cannot finish your piece within the timeframe you need it by, we will always tell you right away. Sometimes we can even suggest other local metalsmith/jewellers who can complete it in time for your special occasion or date.
How long does it take to have custom jewelry made?
Like we mentioned above, every single piece of custom jewelry is made just for you. You will have the option to choose your metal, stones, sizing, textures, and finishes. These options, including timelines will determine the price.
All custom jewelry starts at a base price of $100.00 CAD. This will cover all of our initial design conversations, in person meetings, jewelry consultations and follow ups, and our own background material sourcing. Not all custom work can be created using materials we already have in our studio, so often with custom work there is a lot of material sourcing that needs to be included. Material sourcing includes specific metals, findings, chains, stones, and more that are needed to complete your custom jewelry piece.
To get started on your custom jewelry, we do require a deposit up front and this is calculated as a percent of your total overall cost. Once this is paid, we will begin creating your design.
How do you determine pricing for custom jewelry?
Can you reuse my families jewelry, metal, stones, crests, or other details in custom work?
Sometimes!
This would be determined piece by piece. We would be able to assess this by seeing your jewelry in person, before making any conclusions as to if we can re-use, replicate, or make a mold of any of your existing jewelry.
We cannot reuse any plated materials, or chipped stones.
